Paul Simon's 1986 album Graceland finds the singer-songwriter blending American pop and folk sensibilities with South African township music, Cajun zydeco, and a range of other world music influences. Recorded largely in Johannesburg with local musicians including Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the album became one of the most prominent examples of African sounds crossing into Western pop. Tracks like "You Can Call Me Al" and the title song "Graceland" received significant radio play and remain among Simon's best-known work from his post-Simon and Garfunkel career.
