Pink Floyd's *Animals* came out in 1977 and sits as one of their darker, more politically charged records, drawing heavily from George Orwell's *Animal Farm* as a framework for critiquing society. Musically it falls somewhere between the expansive prog rock of *Wish You Were Here* and the harder edge that would come with *The Wall*, built around long, sprawling tracks with plenty of guitar work from David Gilmour. The album is essentially split into three major pieces — "Dogs," "Pigs (Three Different Ones)," and "Sheep" — bookended by two shorter versions of "Pigs on the Wing."
