Pink Floyd's sixth studio album, released in 1971, finds the band bridging their early psychedelic sound with the expansive progressive rock they would fully realize on later records. The album is split between shorter experimental tracks on the first side and the side-long suite "Echoes," a 23-minute piece built around guitar, organ, and the band's signature use of space and texture. "One of These Days" is the other standout, a bass-driven instrumental with an aggressive, propulsive energy that contrasts with the album's more meditative moments.
