Platinum Blonde was a Toronto-based new wave and pop rock trio who scored considerable commercial success in Canada during the mid-1980s. Alien Shores is their second studio album, released in 1985 on Columbia Records, following up their debut Standing in the Dark. The record leans into a polished, synth-driven pop rock sound typical of the era, and includes the singles "It Doesn't Really Matter" and "Contact," both of which received heavy rotation on Canadian radio and MuchMusic.
