BIN # R83

Here's a pressing that doesn't surface in the bins very often – Powder Blues' "Uncut" on the original Canadian RCA pressing from 1980. This Vancouver-based outfit carved out their own niche in the post-revival blues scene, blending traditional Chicago blues with a distinctly Canadian working-class sensibility that resonated far beyond their Pacific Northwest origins. Led by Tom Lavin's harmonica and vocals, Powder Blues became something of a phenomenon in Canada during the early '80s, and "Uncut" captures them at their creative peak, featuring their signature mix of blues standards and original material that could pack roadhouses from Vancouver to Halifax.
