Description
Owlcreek Incident is Prelude’s second album, released in Canada on Dawn Records and manufactured by Phonodisc. The trio — Brian Hume, Irene Hume, and Ian Vardy — expand their acoustic folk sound with a mix of originals and carefully chosen covers, including Jackson Browne’s “For a Dancer” and Richard Thompson’s “Meet on the Ledge.”
The album blends close‑harmony vocals, gentle acoustic arrangements, and understated production typical of Dawn’s mid‑’70s folk catalog. Hume and Vardy contribute the majority of the original material, with themes ranging from reflective storytelling to soft folk‑rock textures. The Canadian pressing mirrors the U.K. Dawn issue but carries domestic manufacturing credits and catalog number DNLH‑3.
This LP stands as a strong example of Prelude’s post‑“After the Goldrush” period, showcasing their shift toward more developed songwriting and fuller arrangements.
