Raze was an American house project led by producer Doug Lazy, and "Jack the Groove" was their debut single and EP released in 1986 on the UK Champion label. The title track became a significant early house music record, built around a driving rhythmic groove and vocal samples that helped define the sound of Chicago house crossing over into the UK club scene. The release captures the stripped-down, percussion-forward style characteristic of mid-80s house music.
