Rob McConnell & The Boss Brass was a Toronto-based big band led by trombonist Rob McConnell, one of Canada's most respected jazz arrangers and bandleaders. This 1985 release pairs the group with American alto saxophonist Phil Woods, a hard bop veteran well known for his work with Charlie Parker and his appearance on Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are." The album is a straight-ahead big band jazz record featuring Woods as a featured soloist alongside McConnell's characteristically tight and swinging arrangements.
