Here's a Canadian pressing of Rod Stewart's "Blondes Have More Fun" from 1978, capturing the Rooster at the peak of his mainstream commercial powers. This album marked Stewart's full embrace of disco-tinged pop rock, much to the chagrin of purists but to the delight of radio programmers worldwide. The centerpiece here is "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy," which became his biggest hit of the late '70s despite—or perhaps because of—its shameless appropriation of both disco rhythms and a melody borrowed from Brazilian musician Jorge Ben. The controversy only added to its allure, and the track became a defining moment of late-'70s pop culture excess.
