Produced by The Glimmer Twins, the album reflects the band’s continued use of disco‑influenced rhythms and groove‑based arrangements following Some Girls. Engineer Chris Kimsey played a significant role in shaping the sound of the sessions. “Emotional Rescue” and “She’s So Cold” were issued as singles, and the album marked the Stones’ first release of the 1980s under their Rolling Stones Records imprint, distributed in Canada by WEA Music of Canada.
