Rush's seventh studio album, released in 1982, marked a significant shift toward synthesizer-driven rock, pulling back from the elaborate progressive structures of their earlier work in favor of a more streamlined, new wave-influenced sound. Geddy Lee's keyboards took a more prominent role alongside Alex Lifeson's guitars and Neil Peart's drumwork. "Subdivisions" and "New World Man" are the standout tracks, with the latter becoming the band's first US top 40 single.
