Ruth Welcome was an American zither player who recorded several albums for Capitol Records in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Latin Zither, released in 1963, features Welcome applying her zither playing to a selection of Latin-flavored melodies, blending the instrument's distinctive dulcimer-like tone with rhythms and themes drawn from Latin American music. It sits in that mid-century easy listening space where exotic instrumentation met popular appeal, aimed at the same audience drawn to lounge and world music crossover records of the era.
