Here's a pressing that bridges two worlds in country music – Sam Hunt's debut "Montevallo" on MCA Nashville from 2014. This album essentially rewrote the playbook for modern country, blending R&B-influenced vocals with trap-style production and traditional country storytelling in ways that had Nashville purists scratching their heads and younger listeners hitting repeat. Hunt, a former college quarterback turned songwriter, named the album after the Alabama town where his ex-girlfriend attended university, and that personal connection bleeds through every track. The record spawned four number-one hits and helped establish what we now call "country-pop" or "hick-hop" as a legitimate subgenre.
