Savoy Brown's "Jack the Toad" came out in 1973, capturing the British blues rock band during a transitional period following the departure of several key members. The album blends hard rock with the group's signature blues foundation, featuring extended jamming alongside more straightforward rock tracks. Kim Simmonds leads the band through a set that includes the title track and showcases the looser, live-influenced direction the group was pursuing at the time.
