Sha Na Na were a New York-based rock and roll revival group who built their reputation performing 1950s and early 1960s oldies with an exaggerated greaser aesthetic, gaining widespread attention after appearing at Woodstock in 1969. "The Golden Age Of Rock 'n' Roll" came out in 1973 on Kama Sutra and is a double album collection of their live-in-the-studio style renditions of classic rock and roll standards, covering songs associated with artists like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and Little Richard. The album captures the group's stage-show energy and nostalgic approach to the era they were celebrating.
