Here's a Canadian pressing of Styx's commercial peak, Paradise Theatre, the concept album that became the first rock record to be certified quadruple-platinum. Released at the height of the band's theatrical prog-rock phase, this 1981 effort tells the story of urban decay through the lens of Chicago's actual Paradise Theater, which had fallen from vaudeville glory to demolition. Tommy Shaw's guitar work perfectly complements Dennis DeYoung's grandiose vision, while the album spawned multiple radio staples including "The Best of Times" and "Too Much Time on My Hands." What many don't realize is how this album marked both Styx's greatest success and the beginning of internal tensions that would eventually fracture the classic lineup.
