After all of the masterpieces from Martin Scorcese it is interesting to see his turn at a police drama that would be as fitting as a two - hour television production as a motion picture. It boasts a wonderful cast, all outstanding performances yet somehow lacks the freshness and stark realism of the directors previous works. Still a film of merit and worthy of a five star rating.
