The Doors' self-titled debut, released in January 1967 on Elektra Records, introduced the Los Angeles quartet's distinctive blend of blues, psychedelic rock, and Jim Morrison's darkly poetic lyrics. The album features two of the band's most enduring tracks, "Light My Fire" and "Break on Through (To the Other Side)," alongside the haunting eleven-minute closer "The End." Ray Manzarek's organ-driven sound, combined with Morrison's baritone vocals, set the group apart from most of their contemporaries and established a template they would carry throughout their career.
