Here's a piece of Canadian rock history that often gets overlooked in The Guess Who's catalog, but shouldn't be. "Flavours" represents the band in transition after Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman's creative partnership had ended, with Bachman departing to form Bachman-Turner Overdrive. This 1974 release showcased Cummings stepping fully into his role as the band's primary creative force, backed by the solid rhythm section of Garry Peterson and Bill Wallace, plus newcomer Domenic Troiano on guitar. The album captures a grittier, bluesier direction for the group, moving away from some of their earlier pop sensibilities while maintaining those distinctive prairie rock roots that made them Canada's biggest international export of the era.
