The Hooters were a Philadelphia rock band who broke through with this, their major label debut on Columbia, released in 1985. Nervous Night blends new wave, pop rock, and folk-rock influences with a distinctive sound built around keyboards, guitars, and the melodica-like instrument called the hooter, which gave the band its name. The album produced several well-known tracks including "And We Danced" and "Day by Day," both of which received substantial MTV and radio airplay at the time.
