The Knack's debut album, released in 1979 on Capitol Records, is a tight, punchy collection of power pop and new wave-influenced rock from the Los Angeles band. The record became a massive commercial success largely on the strength of "My Sharona," one of the defining rock singles of the late seventies, along with the follow-up hit "Good Girls Don't." The album draws heavily on the energy of British Invasion pop and early punk, filtered through a polished American studio sound.
