The Mexicali Brass was a studio ensemble project put together for the budget Crown Records label, releasing a string of easy listening instrumental albums throughout the mid-1960s. Michelle, from 1966, is a collection of brass-heavy pop instrumental arrangements typical of the Latin-tinged mood music popular at the time, built around covers of current hits. The title track is a take on the Beatles song of the same name, and the album fills out with similar light orchestral treatments of other popular tunes of the era.
