The Moody Blues' sixth studio album, released in 1970 on their own Threshold label, marked a somewhat harder, more direct rock sound compared to their earlier orchestral prog work. The record includes "Question," the urgent anti-war single that opens the album, as well as "Melancholy Man" and "It's Up to You." Produced by Tony Clarke, the band — Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mike Pinder, Graeme Edge, and Ray Thomas — maintained their philosophical lyrical themes while pulling back slightly on the elaborate sonic layering of albums like Days of Future Passed.
