The Police's third studio album, released in 1980 on A&M Records, finds the British new wave trio continuing to blend rock, reggae-tinged rhythms, and pop sensibility into a tight, polished sound. The record includes two of their most recognizable songs, "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da," both of which became major international hits. Recorded quickly under label pressure, the album has a somewhat leaner feel compared to their later work but remains a solid entry in their catalog.
