The Stampeders were a Calgary-based rock trio who found significant success in the early 1970s with their blend of pop rock and country-tinged rock and roll. New Day, released in 1974, came toward the tail end of their commercial peak, following the success of their hits "Sweet City Woman" and "Wild Eyes." The album continues in their established rock style, though the group was beginning to transition away from the sound that had made them one of Canada's more prominent acts of the era.
