The Cost of Loving is the second studio album from The Style Council, the British group led by Paul Weller following his departure from The Jam, released in 1987. The record leans heavily into soul, funk, and R&B territory, with a slicker, more polished sound than their earlier work and a strong influence from American black music of the era. Tracks like "It Didn't Matter" and "Waiting" showcase the band's smoother, synth-driven approach alongside contributions from vocalist Dee C. Lee.
