Here's a Canadian Island pressing of Tom Waits' pivotal 1983 masterpiece *Swordfishtrombones*, the album that marked his dramatic artistic transformation and essentially created the blueprint for everything that followed in his career. This was Waits' first release after leaving Asylum Records and his piano-bar crooner persona behind, diving headfirst into a world of industrial percussion, prepared instruments, and avant-garde arrangements that would influence countless artists. Working with his then-girlfriend (later wife) Kathleen Brennan, Waits crafted something entirely unprecedented – part junkyard symphony, part fever dream, part musical theater. The album's experimental approach, featuring everything from brake drums to marimba, created a new vocabulary for American roots music that was both deeply traditional and utterly revolutionary.
