Tommy Dorsey and His Orchestra, led here by Warren Covington following Dorsey's death in 1956, released this 1958 Decca LP as a hi-fi showcase of some of the band's most celebrated arrangements from the swing era. The record presents lush, big band performances designed to highlight the audio fidelity that was a major selling point for the format at the time. Covington, a trombonist who took over the orchestra, keeps the sound rooted in the classic Dorsey style that made the band famous throughout the 1940s.
