The Living Word is the second volume from the 1972 Wattstax concert and film, released on Stax in 1973. Where the first volume focused on the music performances, this one leans heavily into the spoken word and comedic material from the event, featuring Richard Pryor's stand-up segments alongside gospel performances and political speeches. It captures the cultural and community dimension of the Wattstax festival, which was held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum as a benefit concert for the Watts community.
