Highwayman is a 1985 collaborative album from four country legends — Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson, released on Columbia Records. The four artists, who had been loosely associated as the Outlaw Country movement, came together here as a formal supergroup simply called The Highwaymen. The title track, written by Jimmy Webb, became a number one country hit and features each singer taking a verse as a different historical figure across multiple lifetimes. The album sits comfortably in the country and country-folk tradition, with a relaxed, roots-oriented sound that reflects all four artists' individual styles.
