Whitesnake's 1987 self-titled album is the British hard rock band's commercial breakthrough, released on Geffen Records and featuring a polished, radio-friendly sound that leaned heavily into the American arena rock and glam metal styles of the era. The album produced several well-known singles, including "Here I Go Again" and "Is This Love," both of which received extensive MTV airplay thanks in part to videos featuring Tawny Kitaen. David Coverdale leads the band through a set of hook-driven rock tracks that represented a significant sonic shift from their earlier blues-influenced work.
