Willie Nelson's 1975 Columbia release "Red Headed Stranger" is a spare, largely acoustic concept album telling the story of a fugitive preacher on the run after killing his unfaithful wife. Recorded with a stripped-down sound that stood in contrast to the polished Nashville productions of the era, it became a defining record of the outlaw country movement. The album includes Nelson's cover of "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain," which became his first number-one hit, as well as "Time of the Preacher."
